Baška Voda
Dalmatia
altBAŠKA VODA, 3km southeast along the Magistrala (though you can just as easily walk along the coastal path), is less charming and more commercialized than Brela. The town is modern and unexciting, although the Archeological Collection (Arheoloska zbirka) just off the Riva has a small but imaginatively presented selection of finds from Grading, the hillock immediately west of the centre, which was the site of a settlement from the Bronze Age to late Roman times. There's a re-creation of a late Roman hearth, and some simply decorated storage vessels and glassware.
Some Split-Makarska buses pass right along Baska Voda's waterfront, although most coastal services pick up and drop off high above the centre on the Magistrala, from where it's a fifteen-minute walk down Put kapelice to the seafront. Here you'll find a helpful tourist office at Obala svetog Nikole 31.
